Monthly Feature
This month we would like to feature our pastor Rev. William F.
Marcum. He will turn 70 years old this month and my how time
seems to have passed by.

William F. Marcum was born on December 7, 1938 in Cincinnati, Oh at the General
Hospital, which is now known a University. He was born to Rev. John F. Marcum
and Anna Lee Stewart Marcum, originally of Corbin and Barbourville, Ky.

Bro. Bill (as most call him) has 2 brothers, of one (Rev. Ron Marcum now
deceased on June 20, 2007) and two sisters Cathy and Barbara of whom all are in
the ministry.

Bro. Bill was called to preach at the age of 12 but did not fulfill his calling then. As
a teenager he wanted to find out about the things of the world. He was a leader of
a gang in Cincinnati of about 25 young boys who were motorcycle teens, involved
in gang fights and could have cut a man's throat and laughed at him while he died.
He also ran with Charles Manson (who is in prison for murder) his brother said he
was an alcoholic but thank God he was not into doing drugs. Sports were very
prevalent then and he was small of statue, as some would say, "Skinny", not much
confidence, he wanted to be in football, boxing and other sports that was
excelled by the African American boys. The devil took the advantage of his
emotions and tried to destroy him by possession of a demon spirit.

He was so overwhelmed by the sins of this world he tried and tried to find
himself. At one point in his life he tried to commit suicide several times. He was in
church and out of church. After he was delivered of the possession of the demon
spirit, he ask God, "Why did this happen to me"? He felt God told him, "It seemed
you wanted the devil so I thought you could have him for awhile". Because of the
prayers of his mother and father God had mercy on his soul. One night in an
upper room God delivered him from this terrible demon spirit.

At the age of 23 he married Barbara Ann Winkler of Ludlow, KY. In December of
1962 he felt after 2 months of seeking God he was SAVED! He started going to
church and became very involved in studying the Bible and again accepted his
calling into the ministry. After a year or so he became the assistant pastor for Rev.
Don Neal and attended the church in Ludlow, Ky. During these years 3 daughters
were born Pamela, Michelle and Sherri.

He was committed to God totally!  He says when he got saved he gave God his
heart, mind, soul and his strength. After several years of evangelizing the gospel
he was called to pastor in Maineville, Oh in the year of 1970. He pastored there
for 17 1/2 years.

He now pastors in Newport, Ky at Newport Pentecostal Holiness Church. He has
felt his calling from the Lord is the (repairer of the breach) as it tells us in Isaiah
56. His pastor ship began in 1995 and we just celebrated 13 years together.

Bro. Bill is a very gentle, quite, understanding and compassionate person, he has
been an inspiration to many people throughout his life.  Please pray for Bro. Bill
and the church here in Newport that many souls can be added to the kingdom of
God.

P.S. Pastor Bill evangelized for many years and he and Sis. Barbara made an LP
album and this is one of their songs from 1971.

God Bless all who read this and pray God will encourage you to keep working for
HIM.
