Hello Friends,
I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. In 1966, at the age of 16, I went to the state of VA to live
with my sister and her family. Shortly after arriving there, I went to a church near my sister's house,
and conviction touched my soul and the Lord wonderfully saved me. That actually happened on a
Christmas night. I always say that I got the best gift anyone could ever receive. That following
February, my sister and family and myself were invited to visit another church, by a man who we met
at a phone booth. That was the night I received the Holy Ghost, and that was also the night I met my
wife Ruby. Her dad, Bro. Wayne Powers, was the pastor of that church. My sister's family and I
began attending church faithfully there. Because my sister's husband, at that time was in the
military, they soon left the area and returned to Texas. My interest in my wife to be was the basis for
making my decision to stay in VA.
After 1 1/2 years of our courtship, we married. That was during the years when the military draft was
in place. After almost 2 years of marriage, I was sent a letter to report for duty. After 6 months of
training, I was sent straight to Vietman. God graciously protected me and gave me a position as a
mail clerk. I received an Honorable Discharge from the military in May of 1973 and we began
pastoring our first church within a couple of weeks.
Our first son, Anthony was born that following October. We pastored there for 5 years, by which
time our second son, Jonathan, was 16 months old. We started out evangelizing with a pick-up
truck and a slide-in camper. Yes, with 4 of us, it was very cramped, but we had joy in our hearts as
we saw many give their lives to the Lord. We crossed the U.S. in one year, and when we got back to
Virginia, God opened the door for us to pastor another church in the Charlottesville area. We
continued pastoring there another 5years, during which time our only daughter, Yolanda was born.
When Yolanda was 2 years old, God laid it on our hearts to go out evangelizing
again. We traveled, with 3 children at that time. We did not fully understand the plan that God had.
As we look back, we understand how God was allowing us to meet and get acquainted with so many
of His people because in September 1986, God dealt with our hearts to come to Mexico to do
missionary work.
Through out the 21 years of working for the Lord in this vineyard, God has given us so many souls.
He has allowed us to see 32 church buildings constructed for his Glory. Through many of you,
whom we became acquainted with during the years of evangelizing, have truly been a source
which God has used to accomplish what has been done here for His Glory.
From time to time, God allows us to meet new people who also feel a burden to be a part of this
ministry. That was the case, when God allowed us to get acquainted with Bro. J. L. Gentry who
donated the steel structure, and now stands a tabernacle, where we have our annual camp
meeting, and also where we run our Bible School. Bro. Headings gave the gift which paid for the
footers and slab, and Sis. Muddiman gave from the sale of their church,to build the kitchen/dining,
and both sides upstairs for dorms behind the tabernacle. We would like to mention that God has
allowed us to also build 3 dwellings for pastors. There will always be many material needs, but our
burden for souls and their spiritual needs is our greatest concern.
God blessed our home once again in 1990 by giving us one more child, our third son, Joel. He is a
special blessing to us and the work here. He is completely bi-lingual, and is sincerely seeking God’
s will for his life. We now have 5 grandchildren. We are so thankful that our oldest son, Bro.
Anthony, his wife and their 4 children also work together in the mission work here, and are
currently pioneering their second church work, and also teaching at the Bible School.
Pray for us,
The Sosa's
